Why we're doing this
Realize Charlotte exists because we think this city is worth paying attention to — the new restaurants, the developments reshaping South End and Uptown, the neighborhoods that were sleepy five years ago and aren't anymore. We spend most of our time covering what's changing here and what it means if you live here, or if you're thinking about it.
But covering a city and enjoying a city are two different things. This giveaway is the second one.
And if we're honest, there's a bigger idea underneath it. A lot of people move to Charlotte and never really meet it. They land in a neighborhood, learn the route to work, and that becomes the city. Meanwhile there's a whole Uptown two exits away that they experience about twice a year.
One night won't fix that. But it's a good start.
